If you experience a singer-songwriter shortage and/or a singer-songwriter fan shortage in your neighborhood, don’t panic. You’ll probably find ‘em all at Quiet Valley Ranch, south of Kerrville. The 39th annual Kerrville Folk Festival kicks off at 3 p.m. Thursday with Joe Jencks performing a Ballad Tree set and runs through June 13. In between, there’ll be schools, workshops, yoga, bike rides, canoe trips, campfire song sessions, concerts for kids and evening concerts featuring more than 80 acts that qualify as among the best in the lyric-driven music biz. The evening shows start Thursday with, in order of appearance, Ana Egge (above), George Ensle, Big Wide Grin, Austin Lounge Lizards and Micky & the Motorcars.

Fine print: Fest is 9 miles south of Kerrville on Texas 16. Ticket sales/will call open at 1 p.m. Thursday. $30-$40 for daily tickets. Discounts available through Saturday at midnight via www.kerrvillefolkfestival.com. Call (830) 257-3600.
